Meredith Garlick, Producer

Producer, writer and teacher, Meredith is currently heading up the Australian operations of Forgan-Smith.  She has recently produced the comedy feature The Underdog's Tale, which was shot on HD and is selling in various territories.

Before forming Forgan-Smith with Monica and Jennifer, Meredith worked as personal assistant to the international star Russell Crowe. Prior to that she was his assistant on the shooting of A Beautiful Mind , a position she assumed immediately upon completing her MFA in film producing at Columbia University, New York. At Columbia Meredith was the first person to be voted in the same year both the Arthur Krim Producer of the Year and the Best Producer by adjunct faculty/producers Michael Hausman (Gangs of New York), James Schamus (Sense and Sensibility - Oscar), Richard Brick (Woody Allen's Celebrity), and Ira Deutchman (Hoop Dreams).

She was the Assistant to the Co-Producer of Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown in her third year at Columbia and also produced numerous narrative, documentary and experimental short films that won various awards and screened theatrically, on international and domestic television and at various film festivals worldwide. For several years she was the Director of the Polo Ralph Lauren Columbia University Film Festival, which included presentation of screenings and script readings in New York as well as at Twentieth Century Fox and Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles. Meredith has also taught various film, television and art history courses at universities in Australia and New York, and is in demand as a public speaker at conferences, seminars and festivals.  [Click here for a full program of public lectures.]

Meredith's earlier professional experience in Australia included over five years as a theatrical agent, plus experience in casting, advertising, marketing and PR. Her undergraduate schooling included a double major in art history leading to first-class honors and the University medal, as well as a professional degree in book-binding and restoration.
