Director's Vision

"When I read the screenplay for THE MOON PRINCESS, I immediately felt that it could translate into a great and visually enchanting movie which could appeal to boys and girls alike.  It moved me and I liked enormously all the rich characters, the great story, the mysteriously dark settings of the locations and sets, and I could see all the visual possibilities.  It was refreshing to read such a well-written script which had some great and meaningful messages and a deep substance to it.  I just recently had the pleasure to read the book which it was based on: THE LITTLE WHITE HORSE, by Elizabeth Goudge.  It is a beautiful book, and I understand why it has such a loyal fanbase.

My goal with the movie is to make a faithful version of the book, an artistically gorgeous picture with an enticing and thrilling story, not only for children but for adults as well.  One of the young male characters takes a dramatic turn and becomes the biggest supporter of our heroine, even sacrificing his own life and relationship with his very powerful father to do so. This unexpected motive adds extra drama and surprise to the overall story arc, as well allowing the film to become more accessable to a young male audience.  There are tremendous opportunities for mind-boggling visuals and effects in the picture, with big set-pieces of magic, fantasy and mystery. The movie will end with a big and ambitious visual-fx fanfare with oceans roaring, wild horses emerging from raging waves, a giant fireball from the sky crushing and burning acres of land, plus forests and mountains changing colors and transforming to vivid magic.  I will be very selective with the choice of creative talent, starting with the cast, cinematographer, production designer/art director, visual fx company etc., to make a most memorable and sophisticated family movie."
